  19. GESTEL RELEASES VERSION 2.4 OF SOLIDTHINKING
  20. RenderMan Based Advanced 3D Environment Demonstrated At Imagina 96

  23. MONACO - February 15, 1996 - GESTEL s.a.m. today announced that
  24. March 1, 1996 will release Version 2.4 of solidThinking for Intel
  25. based PCs, HP Pa-Risc, and SUN Sparc workstations running NEXTSTEP.
  26. The new version of the award winning 3D environment is being
  27. demonstrated at Imagina 96 in Booth B10.
  28.  
  29. solidThinking is the commercial 3D modeling, animation and rendering
  30. solution that offers the most complete integration with RenderMan,
  31. Pixar's scene description language.
  32.  
  33. solidThinking Version 2.4 provides many new advanced capabilities,
  34. including full support to raytracing and radiosity rendering
  35. techniques using BMRT from Larry Gritz as well as to PhotoRealistic
  36. RenderMan from Pixar.

  38. NURBS based modeling now fully supports trim curves.
  39.  
  40. New features include promote function, delegate,  interactive
  41. texture positioning, and enhanced compositing with automatic
  42. generation of shadows on background images, import and export of
  43. files in IGES format (that is added to the most diffused data
  44. exchange formats already supported from previous versions);
  45.  
  46. Also enhanced in Version 2.4 is animation that now offers full
  47. support to DPS Personal Animation Recorder.
